On my epic 4600 mile road trip I drove down the coast from canada to LA to do a wedding, while there I prepped for an April wedding by doing their engagement pictures for this San Diego couple.
We met at Presidio park in San Diego and for the first part shot mainly at or near the Serra Museum.
In the second post I’ll focus on mainly the evening pictures taken in Old Town.
The Museum on top of the hill had some great architecture and nice colors.
This is me sending them off a fair distance… putting on a long lens and telling them to just interact. But having them alter their interactions so I could see their faces and what not. (Or put their shoulders down. haha)
That’s San Diego out there in the background.
So I didn’t figure they wanted pictures of the building itself but i spent a few seconds and did a couple just cuz and then we focused on lots more non-distinct backgrounds.
You can tell I was a fan of the stairs.
In one of the pictures below them sitting back was more of necesity so the sun wouldn’t hit their heads. they found that if they leaned back it wasn’t a problem. It made them interact pretty cutely so that was great.
I was a big fan of the shadow pictures. I could have stayed doing that for a longer period of time. Specially if the wall was a larger more uninterrupted section.
Used me some direct sunset light which after color correction really makes the rest of the sky very twilighty.
Old Town has certainly got the old spanish flare – had to make some of that happen.
Again with the stairs. Had a nice light going so that the light was more spotlighted with darker edges.
A guy that was their with his wife walked by us and seemed pretty excited to see me using the Nikon CLS in full form with the commander being my pop up flash.
He asked “You using the pop-up flash just to control the other light aren’t you?” Ding ding… winner winner chicken dinner!
This is starting into the evening shots. But it’s more about the museum so I added it to this post.
More to come tomorrow
