About the Decathlon
It's a competition where 30-40 teams of 2-4 photographers take
pictures in 10 Styles of Photography
Competitors will employ their best photography skills, intelligent
strategies and good teamwork over the course of 2.5 days
Though only a few hundred people can be at the event we have a
professional video team that will work to get everything on youtube
for free online viewing for tens of thousands of you that won't be
there.
Goal: A small portfolio for each of the 10 styles of photography.

When/Where
The events are October 9-12th in Utah (fall colors, up in mountains)
We will be stationed at a very nice resort near Park City Utah

We start with an educational day and an opening ceremony banquent
We end with a small trade show and a closing ceremony awards galla

What is an Ambassador
They act as representatives: one for each style of photography at the decathlon
They teach one day and they judge the final submissions.

full week at the fancy resort, get you transportation, food and great
press for this big big event.

The decathlon ends Friday the 12th but that's when lots more people
start showing up for our free 2 day photowalk in Utah over the

  1. Ron Clifford says

    +Kelli Seeger Kim HUGE ((((((((HUG))))))

  2. Erika Thornes says

+Randy Jay Braun would be a great ambassador. https://plus.google.com/105385385448524520257/posts have your looked at the g+ mentorship program for photographers? I think there might be some fantastic community leaders in there.

  3. John De Bord says

+Patricia Davidson +Dave Nitsche +Mike Shaw You all are very welcome! It is something which all of you deserve, no bones about it. You all are some of the absolute shooters around and rest assured that won't be questioned by anyone. You all know your stuff too and are all very approachable and "real". Something which many aren't.

  4. Erik Stensland says

Thanks for the recommendation from +John De Bord. Much appreciated! I would be willing to attend, but I think the very best landscape photographers out there are +Guy Tal and +Jesse Speer

+Alan Shapiro +Brian Matiash +Ivan Makarov +Karen Hutton +Tamara Pruessner +Kelli Seeger Kim +Chrysta Rae and of course you +Scott Jarvie.

  6. Jesse Speer says

+John De Bord +Erik Stensland thanks guys, for dropping my name in this discussion of epic talent. Very flattered. I'm occupied with another project at the time, so I'll throw my support around the other names mentioned – especially De Bord's list, with the inclusion of +Olivier Du Tré.

  7. Vivienne Gucwa says

Thank you so much +Ron Clifford and +Kelli Seeger Kim ! :)

  8. Alan Shapiro says

Helps +Athena Carey smother +Kelli Seeger Kim in kisses.
Then grabs +Ron Clifford in a bear hug and squeezes the poutine outta him.

    And for what it's worth,
I think Long Exposure should be a category:+Athena Carey
as well as Food: +Nicole S. Young
also consider Wildlife: +Uwe Skrzypczak, +Mike Spinak +Lee Daniels (if she's feeling up to the trip)

  9. Kelly-Shane Fuller says

+Alan Shapiro I think +Ron Clifford might need his poutine. You should leave that in him.

  10. Chrysta Rae says

+Alan Shapiro for portrait for SURE.

  11. Ron Clifford says

+Kelly-Shane Fuller A guy needs his energy ya know!

+Ron Clifford wow!! Thanks for the shout out.

  16. Nicole S. Young says

Thanks for all the nominations! I guess "food" could be the "surprise" category? Since it's up in the mountains it could be a camping-food theme, lol :)

ETA … this is a great list of photographers in these comments, +Scott Jarvie! I'm finding a bunch more to add to my circles :)

  17. Lotus Carroll says
  18. Darryl Van Gaal says

Night – I'd have to say that +Ben Canales would be the man for Night, I bow down to his awesomeness (even if I really want to go myself)  lol

Landscape – I'd have to go with +Jim Davis (who can fill multiple categories) and +Kieran O'Connor

Macro – How can you NOT like the work of +Kjetil Greger Pedersen

     Portrait – I love +Alan Shapiro's work!

  19. Alan Shapiro says

+Gordon Laing Thanks for the nomination/recommendation. +Scott Jarvie I'm available those dates if chosen by your committee. (Thanks!!!)

  22. Laurent Coppée says

Thanks so much for then mention +Vivienne Gucwa and +CJ Sros :-)
Both of you should be ambassadors, and not only because you are brilliant at your art but as a true ambassador has to be your kindness is definitely on par with your talent :-)

  23. Gerard Sanz says

+Johan Swanepoel is a photographer I enjoy a lot following. Not sure the categories fit though his style of photos, but maybe Thematic or Commercial.
+Lotus Carroll would be a great fit for Surprise (I agree with +Mark Esguerra on this one)
and I again would suggest +Jeffrey Sullivan in the Landscape or Autumn arena. His skills in astrophotography are impressive!

  24. Gerard Sanz says

Sorry forgot to mention +Thomas Leuthard as Street photographer.

  25. Vivienne Gucwa says

    Aw thanks +Laurent Coppée .

  27. Peter Adams says

    Thanks +Tony Payne ;)

  28. Richard Martin says

    Street Photography….  +Julia Su

  29. Janette Stephenson says

    Nice. : )

  30. Mike Spinak says

Thank you for the nomination! I'd love to be a part of this.

  31. Alex Koloskov says

+Scott Jarvie Ok, I see. But I think to shoot products you still need the lightning (artificial) and some place to shoot. It is hard to imagine product shots with ambient light: I mean it is possible, but it won't be wise to teach people to shoot products with ambient light, as this is a very limited approach to shoot products.
Saying this, I'd be glad to shot product commercial photography using speedlites and simple light modifiers.
We will need a room with a projector or a huge monitor, as this is the only way to shot immediate result when shooting tethered.
So, you can count me in.

    Thank you guys!

  32. Athena Carey says

    Bisous à +Alan Shapiro!!  ;)

  33. Lotus Carroll says

I nominate +Michael Bonocore for landscape, heavy typing, and whimpering begs.

  34. Scott Jarvie says

I suppose I should be allowed to nominate someone
    +Trent Nelson for photojournalism
