Yesterday’s wedding was a blast. Which means there are a billion pictures, which means they’re going to take a while to get edited. Which means I should put up a teaser or two in short posts.
Which means I am putting up the first funny picture I found.
Carissa and a few of her brides maids were dancing and I had them dance towards me and they stuck out their arms and just did whatever and below is the result.
I thought it was fun.
This was 1/8th of a second 1/128 flash zoomed in a bit at f/4 and low ISO – I guess they call that drag the shutter (which by the way I think is a dumb label) But in any case it is what it is.
Anyway they kept on asking me to get pictures up soon for their facebook profiles so at least these 4 can have something until the crazy amounts of pictures have been sorted through.

This grandpa was into the dancing.
Believe me I was on top of getting this picture when I saw everyone watching him go at it.
Often you are shown the pictures to take by what everyone else is paying attention to.
Yes go for the small details, then the rest of the time recognize what people are paying attention to and making a big deal of.
Your job isn’t so much to decide what is important for them, but to document what really is important.
I beg to differ.

OK so I guess I don’t here this too often these days since most people are realizing new ways to come up with new stuff.
Yes obey the rule usually, but when you got a handle on the typical reason why not to do it, then go ahead and try breaking it.
Try 14mm on a portrait… specially one where you want some landscape.
This isn’t the only one i’ve taken with this lens of people… I’ll do it often, but I really know my lens and what will be problematic.
Don’t rely on it… but play around.
I’ll also make sure to show off some portraits I’ve done with the fisheye that haven’t been the Jarvie Window

Recently I’ve started to take a lot more individual portraits at the engagement (and other) shoots.
Figure they (and parents and friends) would appreciate them.
The parents can put them on their wall next to their senior pictures and they can even use them on facebook if they like.
Why not… just takes a few seconds… kick the fiance out and see their personality by themselves not in their comfort zone with their love.

Then I’m able to tag them as such and in SmugMug make a smart gallery that will pull all these shots into one album… like so

They haven’t even had their engagement pictures yet, but the festival of colors were happening and I told them if they got a wedding dress I’d take some pictures of them.
They did… and therefore in the mass of 10k+ people I shot a few pictures for a few minutes.
It’s almost like a trash the dress event.
They get married this August

They wanted to do something with the bench… I said sure let’s give it a try. At times I’d love to be the planner, think of great ideas way in advance, but then I realize why mess with a good thing.
I’ve decided there are not enough hot cars at weddings.

They were at the luncheon for this one so they weren’t even in the wedding garb. But I still love it.
Just find a friend that has a nice car… a good enough friend to lend a nice car to you.
